About the Conference
Welcome to this year’s School of Psychiatry Conference!
After another year in which our personal and professional lives have been overshadowed by the Covid-19 pandemic it is a pleasure to invite you to this annual event in which we reflect and learn on important issues relevant to psychiatric training and celebrate the work and achievements of our trainees.
The Covid-19 pandemic restrictions continue to limit the size and scope of any live event and we are therefore delighted to work with Medics Academy to deliver our virtual conference. This will enable a larger number of participants and a larger number of workshops.
We have listened to the feedback from the 2020 conference and aim to give trainees a more prominent role in the delivery of the workshops as well as more scope to interact within their groups. We will be hosting poster presentations throughout the day and optional workshop sessions and other social activities over lunch.
We hope that the keynote speaker themes are of interest and relevance. In the wake of the Glasgow COP26 summit we will turn to the questions of reducing carbon emissions and sustainability within mental health services and the wider NHS. We will also be hearing about the longer term societal and health service impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, and we will be hearing about the new psychiatry curricula, perhaps the biggest change in psychiatric training for over ten years.
As usual I am grateful to the support and organisation of our programme support team, Steph and Ryan, and the 2021 organising committee. We hope you enjoy the day!
