About the Course
This course on manual handling will discuss the approach to the safe handling of loads. The principles can be applied directly to patient movement as well; however, it is advised you seek local advice and training on any aids that you may use to facilitate the manual handling of patients.
The key aim of manual handling is to equip you with the knowledge to protect your spine. The spine is an important structure within your body, with associated muscles providing power and movement as the spine flexes to provide balance and control. As you are working, however, you can put the spine into positions which if you add a load or remain static for long periods of time increase your risk of injury over time.
